Bonus Section! Create a custom favicon! Favicons are the little square graphics that appear next to the URL of your site in a browser. To create your own, design a square graphic in Photoshop (keep it simple and bold), reduce size to 16 x 16, and Save for Web as a .png, .gif, or .jpeg. You can also use this site to automatically convert an image from a larger file to the 16x16 icon file: http://www.chami.com/html-kit/services/favicon/ (be sure to use the file called “preview_16x16.png” it generates for you—Blogger won’t accept .ico files) Next, upload your image back up to Blogger, where it will be hosted. Copy the link for the new image in Blogger. Now, in your template, you will insert the following code right below the <head> tag at the top of your template, substituting, of course, the link you just copied (be sure to follow this format exactly). <link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/4148/145/1600/favicon.jpg"/>Preview the changes, save the template, and republish your blog. Voila! For a more detailed tutorial, watch Freevlog.org’s video at http://tinyurl.com/jtovw. If you have trouble in Beta Blogger, trying using this code instead: <link href='http://photos1.blogger.com/preview_16x16.png' rel='shortcut icon'/> |
