Exercise #1 – Create a Videoblog
Part 1: Create a blog using Blogger.com (you will need a Google account). If you already have a blog, you can either redesign it, or create a new blog just for this class.
Your blog should reflect your own personal style and vision, especially as you see that vision developing over the semester. So, how does this blog represent you in some way?
Draw upon your past expertise in design – you may want to revisit your notes from Image and Sound, Computer Image Making, or other courses you’ve taken that cover design.
Requirements:
- Give your blog a title
- In Photoshop, design and upload an original header for your blog (see Lynda.com Photoshop tutorials if you need a brush-up)
- Choose new fonts and colors
- Add additional gadgets/add-ons/links
- Any other additions or modifications that fit your style
Note: Be sure to consider issues of privacy and access in creating your blog. So, given that anyone with Internet access can see your blog, including family, prospective employers, etc., how do you want to present yourself? Will you include your real name?
Then, write a one-page, double spaced paper describing your design choices. What is the statement you are making with your blog? How do your design choices reflect that statement? How does this design/style fit in with your style as a film/videomaker? Include your Blogspot URL on this sheet.
Part 2: Choose a video you have already created in your vast repertoire, compress it using Quicktime Pro, upload it to your chosen video hosting service, and post it as an embedded video on your blog.
DUE: Paper and blog, Tuesday, January 20th
Part 3: Compress the same video using Compressor. Record your step-by-step workflow and settings. Upload and post the video to your blog as in Part 2.
DUE: Typed up workflow/settings and post on blog, Thursday, January 22nd
