It’s tulip time in Michigan, and I can’t get enough. Funnily, the eerie soundtrack you hear here is Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” on the radio, slowed down to 10% of its original speed. Not so romantic anymore.

I didn’t have much time today and I’m fighting off a migraine, so I’m relying on the collaboration of other folks to make these videos happen. But, to compensate, I’m posting two of them. Above, my Day 2 footage, remixed courtesy of Adam Trowbridge’s Sensation Containers (N.B.: I removed the black gaps in the original XML file, so I did make my own creative adjustments here).

Another experiment with tilt-shift photography, and this time more successful than the last. Features original footage shot in downtown Grand Rapids from the ninth floor of the Eberhard Center at the Grand Valley State University campus. That’s the Grand River we see below, and the blue pedestrian bridge that connects the campus with downtown.
It’s way past my bedtime.

A not-so-successful experiment in tilt-shift photography, achieved in post-production. The technique works nicely for still images, but not so much for this less-than-detailed moving picture. There’s one long shot that looks pretty miniaturized, but much of the rest is too lacking in detail. Ran out of time to give it the fine tuning it deserved. But, what the hell, it’s still kind of a neat image to watch. It’s a spaceship! Flying away!
